Nicchu Line Weeping Cherry Tree Avenue
Once a railway that connected Kitakata Station and Atsushio Station, a part of the former Nitchū Line has been transformed into a scenic promenade.
Today, this 3‑kilometer walkway is lined with around 1,000 weeping cherry trees, creating an enchanting tunnel of soft pink blossoms in spring.During full bloom, the branches cascade like a delicate pink curtain descending from the sky—an ethereal sight that draws visitors from across Japan.Around the midpoint of the promenade, a historic steam locomotive (SL) is on display. The striking contrast between the pale pink cherry blossoms and the powerful black locomotive creates a nostalgic, picture-perfect scene found only here. This unique combination of sakura and SL makes it one of Fukushima’s most beloved spring landscapes, captivating visitors year after year.
